The Rules

If you want to attend a Friday Night Dinner, you MUST follow the rules.

1. You must call Lori or Michelle ahead of time if you want to attend.
We only will have six servings per dinner. Meaning only four people (Michelle and Lori make six) can reserve a seat. Why only four? Michelle will be a student this fall and Lori is on the first years of running her photography business; their money must go to important priorities first. So to be honest, they can only afford to cook small dinners. If all four chairs are reserved then you can catch the next dinner :)

2. You have to try everything on your plate but you don't have to finish it.
The whole point of Friday Night Dinner is for us to learn new dishes and try new foods.

3. No alcoholic drinks.
We might serve our punches and other yummy liquids in nice glasses, but trust us...it will have no alcohol in it.

4. You must have a good time...
Put on your nice shoes and cute dress. Do your hair and paint your face. Expect to have a good time amongst good company. Oh and come hungry!

Lori and Michelle are serious about the rules. It guarantees all a good time and a hot plate. So to reserve a seat email us at fridaynightdinner@hotmail.com

First Friday Night Dinner | Tofu

{this is Michelle typing}
Welcome to our first Friday Night dinner! I'll be the cook for tonight.

Tonights' Main Dish is TOFU with CRUNCHY VEGETABLES and NOODLES

Ingredients:
2 packages (8 ounces each) smoked tofu
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons sunflower oil
2 leeks, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon roasted choppen peanuts
1 package egg noodles, cooked
Serves four-five people

My side is to the main dish is a GREEN and RED BELL PEPPER SALAD

Ingredients:
1 Green bell Pepper
1 Red bell pepper
1 large oranges
2 limes
1 Chopped Cilantro

I started cooking at 6:00 PM. Cut the tofu into cubes and marinated it in soy sauce and sesame oil for at least 30 minutes. Heated the Sunflower oil in a wok and stir-fry the tofu cubes until tofu browned all over. Removed served into bowl. Chopped up the Leeks, Zucchini and Squash into small slices. Added vegetables into previously used pan and stir-frayed the leeks, carrots, zucchini and roasted chopped peanuts for about 2 minutes. Then returned the tofu to the wok and poured in the marinade. Next I placed egg noodles into a boiling hot pot of water until noodles were soft and tender. Last but not least I placed noodles into the tofu and mixed the vegetables all together. And last added soy sauce to the main dish.

Now the Green and Red Bell Pepper Salad. I started by chopping up the green and red bell pepper into small strips and placed into a large bowl. Next pealed the large orange and placed into the bowl along with squeezing the 2 limes into the bowl and last adding chopped up cilantro.

And there you have it! A delious Tofu meal for you and your guests. Hope you enjoy as much as I had making it. :) Here's a photo of the book and the presentation.

Rating from our dinner guests: 8.5
Reason: Needed more vegetables.

If you cook this, come back and leave us a comment how it turned out on this post. Thanks!

---We will have to postpone next Friday Night Dinner to Saturday. We have a freinds party to attend...and we love parties and our friends so until then, cook something!---

About Us

Friday Night Dinner is a blog that is focused on just that, Friday night dinners with Lori and Michelle. Food is one of the things that makes us grin from ear to ear.

How did Lori and Michelle come up with this idea? Well while they were getting things ready for a corn in a cup sale at their church they were talking and realized they both got two new cookbooks! Michelle got two cookbooks for her birthday (June 30Th) and Lori got two cookbooks as a welcome back home gift from her dad (yeah, he was more excited about it than her). So Lori said, "HEY, how about we make each other dinner every week, with a recipe from our new cookbooks?!" Michelle was thrilled about the idea and it was settled. Every Friday night each cookin woman will take turns and cook something divine for the other. Lori will be cooking southern and Mexican dishes and Michelle will be cooking vegetarian dishes and soups.

We also decided to share our little dinner experiences with you (hence this blog). Yes, we will be sharing the recipes as well. In this blog we will type about what went wrong, what we added, what we didn't like and what we loved about our Friday night dinner. We also hope to have guest-cooks too!

So come join us here every friday night for some good cookin. Or at least you can read about it ;)

If you have any tips, suggestions, ideas or you are a chef-in-your-own-kitchen that would like to be featured you can contact us at fridaynightdinner@hotmail.com (but if you have a facebook, add as a friend and contact us through there)
